Expert discussion "Youth Welfare Office Meets Pankow MigrantOrganizations"

(Migrapower)

12/12/2018 | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Town hall Pankow | Breitestr. 24a-26, 13187 Berlin

The youth welfare office plays an essential role in the integration work of migrants. At the same time, migrant organizations also have intercultural skills in integration work and can close gaps with their offers on site that state integration offers do not cover. They have access to migrants and know their needs. As a strategic partner in integration work, migrant organizations have experienced an increase in importance for the rule structure in the past. For this it is assumed that there is access to and knowledge of both cooperation partners. This is where the technical discussion begins and aims to:

Getting to know each other
Insight into the structures of the youth welfare office and their working methods
Insight into the project work and offers of the migrant organizations

The event is aimed at all interested employees of the youth welfare office as well as representatives of the migrant organizations and advisory institutions in Pankow.

Certificates open up access to education, qualification measures and the job market in this country. Those who cannot provide an official certificate often lose out.

In the process, people with a non-straightforward educational bourgeois biography have often acquired valuable skills that neither school nor a career convey. You grew up multilingual; You have intercultural skills in dealing with authorities; In the daily family upbringing and care, they continuously qualify themselves in all matters of age-specific needs; They compensate for disadvantages that society brings to people with disabilities.

At our diversity symposium, we want to give precisely these people the opportunity to have their say and ask the question: Which boss, which employer, which university can actually afford to do without them?

"Where are you going? Municipal structures for new immigrants in Berlin "

(Migrapower)

July 2, 2018 | 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Town hall Pankow

Width St. 24a-26
13187 Berlin

Integration happens locally in the districts - behind this sentence hides a dynamic field of action that has undergone a political upgrade and increasing public awareness in recent years. The regional association of AWO Berlin and the Pankow district office started an innovative approach to dealing with new immigrants in a Berlin district in 2015 with the opening of the Pankow Welcome Center in the district office. Other districts have gone other ways.

The aim of the symposium is to reflect on the district arrival structures and to bring them up for discussion with the participation of various actors. In addition to the technical discussion, the focus of the event is an interactive workshop in which newcomers can examine the local conditions themselves and formulate suggestions for improvement.

(Right) populists across Europe have learned to find new frames for old questions: inequality, migration, terrorism. For each of these topics they offer new answers, which they convey to the respective population groups in adapted and specific messages.

How do right-wing populist parties not only have a say in the political agenda, but also set the framework from which the discussion of the topics then proceeds? How does this mechanism work? Why is right-wing populist content gaining in importance, especially in the recent elections? How can an open and liberal discourse be strengthened?

We as the organization MaMis en Movimiento eV and the specialist and network office [moskito] would like to discuss these and other questions together. The lecture will be in German.

The social and ecological transformation

May 16, 2018 | 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Home of Coaching GmbH.

Stargarderstr. 12A; 10437 Berlin

We are in a transition stage where something new seems to be born and at the same time something old dies. The purpose of the workshop is to think together with the participants about the current state of the world and to enter into a dialogue about the upcoming transformation of society in relation to our own community and ourselves.

We are faced with questions like the following: How does the global crisis of the present relate to my community? Where can the beginnings of the new already be experienced today? How do we envision a social and ecological transformation from the local perspective? What role do the UN's global sustainable development goals play in this?

In order to shape this reflection, we will orientate ourselves on the “Theory U” developed by Otto Scharmer at MIT.
